Mr and Mrs Packer - Micklefield Hall

I had the pleasure of being asked to photograph Charlotte and Sean's wedding day at which is located in Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire. The weather forecast threatened rain all morning and when I arrived, although spirits were high, the girls were in their room getting prepped for the big day and Amie Bone the florist and her team were busying themselves turning an already beautiful venue, into an even more beautiful backdrop with lots of beautiful pastel coloured roses, candles and lots more.  Right up until the last minute we thought the rain was coming, but with all the will in the world from us all, it stayed away. With a very very gorgeous bride, a very dashing groom and a venue to die for, it was the perfect setting for beautiful photographs.

Charlotte's friend Catherine McCarthy was in charge of hair and and  Sacha Jade MAC makeup was on make up and as I'm sure you can see from the photographs her work is just gorgeous and very natural.  Charlotte chose a fairytale dress which i couldn't imagine her in anything else once she was in it.  The dress was by Tara Keely bough in Ascot Brides .

Once all of the girls were ready they started their long, but beautiful  walk to where the ceremony was taking place, surrounded by flowers and trees and then tea lights as they made their way down the ancient brick steps, whilst the String Quartet played  It really was a magic moment for all. The ceremony was beautiful, the guests showered the couple with confetti (an old tradition to bring the couple fertility!)  and we were soon sneaking off for some quiet time and couple shots around the grounds. Charlotte and Sean both told me  when booking with me that they hated having their photos taken but i soon put them at ease and before you knew it they were naturals and we got the beautiful shots that we needed.

The rain stayed away, the speeches were brilliant and before we knew it the first dance and party was well on it's way. The fabulous were in charge on  the music and the delicious food and planning of the day taken care of by .

I would also like to credit Jamie Horton at Yours Truly Weddings who i hadn't worked with before but he was a pleasure to work with. Often it can become a battle a the cameras and trying to edit out videographers and their large cameras can be a problem but Jamie was a true gent and luckily the height difference with him being very tall and me 5'3 it worked really well, and he was happy to shoot over the top of me when we both needed to get shots we needed.

P: Charlotte how did you meet Sean and how did he propose?

B: I first met Sean at high school on his induction day to our sixth form - we both noticed each other right from the first day. Sean proposed to me in Dubai on NYE with lots of fireworks, roses, champagne and candles - I had no idea and that's what made it so special as I always thought I'd know! He was actually planning on doing it the following feb in Disney, my fav place, but the ring was burning a hole in his pocket!

P: Did you see many venues, and how did you get to your final desicion?

B: When we got home from Dubai my mum had a line up of venues ready for us to go and see. I always had my heart set on a outdoor magical garden theme wedding so Micklefield Hall in Sarratt was perfect. It was the second venue we looked at. We totally fell in love with the outdoor area. The beautiful pond, gardens and stunning modern barn- it defo fitted into my enchanted fairytale theme!

P: Was your dress the dress you always dreamt of and did Sean predict the style you went for?

B: I always thought I would have a tight dress, fishtail style. I tried on so many in that style and was loosing hope when the lady asked me to give the puff ball dress a go. I put it on and instantly I knew that was the dress. Nothing I ever dreamt of having but once again it was very Cinderella and fairytale! Sean always thought I'd have a tight dress but when he saw me his words were "you look exactly how I would draw the perfect bride" he loved the dress and the fact is was quite traditional and different to the lace and tight ones in fashion now. I really felt special in it.

P: Did you go on honeymoon and if so where did you go?

B: We decided that instead of doing the usual white beach, bungalow on the water thing we would hire a white soft top mustang and drive around America! We had the best time ever starting in LA and driving to SAN Fran with all the stops on the way! We even took a little flight over the Vegas for the night! We ended in NYC and then Antigua for a relax! It was amazing!

P: If you could have your wedding all over again would you change anything and if so what and why?

B: I wouldn't change a thing - to us it was the perfect day.

Thank you Charlotte and Sean for choosing me to capture your fabulous and magical day and i wish you both  all the love and happiness in the world and look forward to capturing more of your special memories in the near future!! xxx Sophie xxx
