I wanted to share this gorgeous wedding with you as it was one of my favourites to shoot. A close friend of a family friend of mine and her GORGEOUS, kind welcoming family invited me to capture there daughters big day. We started with all the preparations at Mum and Dad's home, onto their family church which there garden backed onto and then onto a close family friends home where they had the most AWESOME marquee and party with all their friends and family.
QUESTION AND ANSWERS WITH JESS THE BRIDE X
How did you meet your man and how did he propose?
Greg & I went to school together! We were in the same form group from the age of 11 but weren’t really friends until we were 16 and then after we left school we had a drunken kiss and everything seemed to go from there, nearly 11 years later and we’re still unsure of how we ever ended up together!
Greg proposed in Cornwall on Christmas Day 2012 – we were walking off our lunch on Crantock beach when Greg proposed, I was in such shock that I thought it was a joke at first until he asked if my answer was yes and if I wanted to put the ring on!
Did you see many venues, and how did you get to your final decision?
My parents live next door to a beautiful church and I’d always dreamt of walking down their driveway in my wedding dress and getting married there – I called the priest a few days after our engagement to hold the date we wanted (the Saturday of the second May bank holiday).
We didn’t see any venues for the Reception! I am from a family that likes to host a party and very few of our BBQs & parties have finished much before sunrise so the thought of a venue imposing a finish time of midnight wasn’t going to do it for us! We also wanted to host a BBQ the day after the wedding as we had people traveling from all over the world to be with us and wanted to spend as much time celebrating with them as possible!
A family friend offered us some of his fields to host our Reception – plenty of space for the 4 Giant Kata tipis, a smaller ‘chill out tipi’ and a traditional marquee to host the children’s area. It was perfect!
Was your dress the dress you always dreamt of and did Greg predict the style you went for?
I always knew I wanted to have a lace dress with a ‘princess’ skirt – the one I chose was the first dress I saw and tried on and I fell in love with it instantly!
Greg said he had a feeling I would have that style but in real life I was far prettier than he could have ever imagined **cheese**
Did you go on honeymoon and if so where did you go?
A few days after the wedding we went to The Scarlet spa in Cornwall for 3 nights to completely switch off and relax. Then in the December after we went ‘flashpacking’ for a month! We went to Dubai, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Vietnam & Bali and seriously did not want to come home!
If you could have your wedding all over again would you change anything and if so what and why?
If we could have controlled the weather it would have been nice to be a little bit warmer but other than that everything was perfect!
